A Prayer For The Christians Of Pakistan

Dear Father God, Please send your love and protection for the Christians of Pakistan. Allow those involved in the persecution of believers to see the light of your Love and fill their hearts with the Holy Spirit. Give those persecuted in the name of Jesus Christ the strength and Hope to endure their struggles. Give the leaders of Islam the wisdom of your love and the desire to follow the Way. Submitted: Tue, 04 Sep 2012 Continent: Asian Sub Continent: Southern Asia Country: Pakistan >Region: Islamabad City: Any City Background: The blasphemy case against an 11-year-old Christian girl in Pakistan, and a mob's harassment of the Christian community near Islamabad, have renewed concerns about the spread of religious extremism in the country, which is, of course, officially at war with extremists. The girl, Rimsha Masih, was arrested last week in Mehrabadi village, near Islamabad, for allegedly burning pages inscribed with verses from the Holy Quran. A local cleric led a mob to surround the police station and demanded police hand over the girl so that she could be burnt alive. Before she was arrested, Rimsha was severely beaten by members of the community. The incident frightened many Christian families. About 300 families, including Rimsha's, reportedly have fled the area. The 11-year old Rimsha has been reported to suffer from Down's syndrome, and her family has been unable to afford proper care for the affliction. The family lived in a slum area of Islamabad where her father, Misrak Masih, worked as a sweeper. (In Pakistan, sweepers and scavengers are mostly non-Muslims.) Under Pakistan's anti-blasphemy law, desecrating the Quran is a capital offence punishable by death. It is yet to be determined whether the girl's act was deliberate or unintentional and, since she is a minor, the maximum sentence would be life in prison. Without a complete investigation - and without taking into consideration the mental state and age of the girl - the mob's pressure to kill her points to growing religious extremism and intolerance in Pakistani society. This dangerous trend has intensified a sense of insecurity among religious minorities. Give us the heart to Love and Protect, banish our greed and self-interest and return us to the true path, the Way. Dear Lord, by faith here is what I am doing right now to prepare myself for the coming day. I am putting on the belt of truth. I ask You to make it very clear to me what I am to accept into my life and what I am to reject. Help me to see clearly the motives of others as they deal with me. Let me walk in Your truth, seeking You first, making decisions and choices according to Your plans and purposes for my life. I am putting on the breastplate of righteousness. Guard my emotions today. Protect my heart. Help me to take into my life only the things that are pure, and nothing that is poison or polluting. Help me to live in integrity and to have a reputation based upon doing, saying, believing, thinking, and feeling the right things. Help me to live in right relationship with You every moment of this coming day. I am putting on my spiritual boots. Help me to stand and walk in Your peace and move forward in ways that bring Your peace and love to others. Help me to have the full confidence and assurance that come from knowing that I am filled with the peace that only You can give to those who are Your children. Help me to be a peacemaker. Show me where to walk and how to walk as You would walk.I am picking up the shield of faith. Help me to trust You to be my Victor in every area of my life today. Let me use Your Word to bring Your light into the darkness of this world and to defeat the devil when he comes to tempt me. Father, I want to be fully clothed with the identity of Jesus Christ today. I am in Christ. He is in me. Help me to fully realize and accept that He is my Truth, my Righteousness, my Peace, my Savior, the source of my faith, and the ever-present Lord of my life.I want to bring glory to Your name today. I ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen
